SoundSend Community Guidelines

SoundSend’s public community is a public beta for discovering and sharing short audio, public SoundBoards, artwork, and creator profiles. These Community Guidelines explain what is and is not permitted in public community areas.

The Guidelines apply to:

  • public profiles, usernames, biographies, and avatars;
  • public sounds and audio;
  • public SoundBoards and their organization;
  • titles, descriptions, artwork, icons, tags, and other metadata;
  • reports, appeals, and interactions with moderators; and
  • attempts to evade enforcement.

Private libraries, SoundSend Player messages, Universal Audio messages, and all other use remain subject to the Terms of Use and Acceptable Use Policy even when these public-community Guidelines do not directly apply.

1. Core expectations

Use SoundSend in a way that respects other people, their rights, and their safety.

You should:

  • publish only content you created or are authorized to publish;
  • use accurate titles, descriptions, attribution, and profile information;
  • obtain consent before publishing another person’s private recording, voice, image, or personal information;
  • distinguish parody, satire, fan content, and synthetic media from authentic or official material when confusion is reasonably likely;
  • choose artwork and metadata suitable for a general audience age 13 and older;
  • report serious violations rather than escalating them; and
  • cooperate honestly with moderation and copyright processes.

Do not publish audio, music, artwork, profiles, or other content unless you have all necessary rights.

A short clip is not automatically permissible because it is under 10 seconds, noncommercial, humorous, attributed, or available elsewhere. Music can involve separate rights in the recording, composition, lyrics, and performance.

Do not:

  • upload another creator’s sound as your own;
  • remove attribution or rights information;
  • re-upload official SoundSend content as community content;
  • publish leaked, stolen, or unlawfully obtained recordings;
  • use another person’s brand, artwork, or identity without authorization; or
  • repeatedly upload content after it was removed for infringement.

Copyright complaints are handled under the Copyright and User-Upload Policy.

3. Child safety

SoundSend has zero tolerance for content or conduct that sexually exploits, endangers, or abuses minors.

Prohibited content and conduct include:

  • child sexual abuse material;
  • sexualized content involving minors;
  • grooming, solicitation, or sexual exploitation of a minor;
  • sextortion or threats involving intimate imagery;
  • content that facilitates trafficking or abuse;
  • attempts to identify, contact, or endanger a minor for exploitative purposes; and
  • jokes, coded references, or synthetic content that normalize or facilitate child sexual exploitation.

SoundSend may remove content, preserve evidence, terminate accounts, and report apparent child exploitation to appropriate authorities or organizations when required or permitted by law.

Do not use ordinary reporting channels for an active emergency. Contact local emergency services or law enforcement.

4. Sexual content

Because SoundSend is intended for a general audience age 13 and older, public community content may not contain:

  • pornography or sexually explicit audio or artwork;
  • explicit descriptions or simulations of sexual acts;
  • nonconsensual intimate content;
  • sexual services, solicitation, or exploitation;
  • fetish content presented for sexual gratification; or
  • sexually explicit synthetic or impersonated voices.

Non-explicit discussion of relationships, health, education, news, art, or identity may be allowed when it is not exploitative, graphic, or otherwise prohibited.

5. Violence, threats, and dangerous conduct

Do not publish or promote:

  • credible threats of violence;
  • instructions or encouragement to attack, seriously injure, or kill a person or group;
  • celebration or praise of real-world violent attacks;
  • graphic gore or audio primarily intended to shock through extreme suffering;
  • content that coordinates violent conduct;
  • terrorist or violent-extremist recruitment, propaganda, praise, or operational support; or
  • dangerous challenges or conduct likely to cause serious injury.

Fictional, newsworthy, documentary, historical, educational, or artistic material may be permitted when context is clear and the content does not glorify, facilitate, or target real people for violence. SoundSend may limit discovery or require contextual presentation even when content is not removed.

6. Hate and dehumanization

Do not attack, threaten, dehumanize, or promote exclusion or violence against people based on protected characteristics such as:

  • race or ethnicity;
  • national origin;
  • religion;
  • caste;
  • sex, gender, gender identity, or sexual orientation;
  • disability or serious medical condition; or
  • another characteristic protected by applicable law.

Prohibited conduct includes slurs used to target or degrade, claims that a protected group is subhuman, praise of hate organizations, and calls for segregation, expulsion, or violence.

Counterspeech, reclamation, education, documentary material, satire, or quotation may be allowed when the context and intent are clear and the content does not function as targeted abuse or promotion.

7. Harassment and bullying

Do not use SoundSend to target a person with:

  • repeated insults or unwanted contact;
  • threats, intimidation, or humiliation;
  • sexual harassment;
  • coordinated harassment or dogpiling;
  • mocking of a private tragedy, disability, or victimization;
  • encouragement of others to abuse or contact the target;
  • publication of private information; or
  • unwanted repeated sounds or messages intended to disturb or intimidate.

Criticism, disagreement, parody, and commentary are not automatically harassment. Context, repetition, power imbalance, severity, audience, and the likelihood of harm matter.

8. Privacy, personal information, and recordings

Do not publish:

  • nonconsensual private recordings;
  • home addresses, private telephone numbers, personal email addresses, authentication information, financial information, government identifiers, or similarly sensitive data;
  • content obtained through hacking, stalking, hidden surveillance, or unlawful access;
  • recordings that expose a private medical, educational, employment, or family matter without authorization; or
  • information that creates a credible risk of stalking, identity theft, swatting, or physical harm.

A recording may violate SoundSend policy even if local law would permit one participant to make it. Public figures and newsworthy events can involve different expectations, but those considerations do not excuse doxxing, stalking, threats, or exploitation.

9. Self-harm and suicide

Do not encourage, instruct, glorify, or pressure someone to engage in suicide, self-harm, disordered eating, or other serious self-injury.

Supportive, recovery-focused, educational, memorial, news, or help-seeking content may be allowed. SoundSend may remove graphic or triggering content, reduce distribution, or provide safety information where appropriate.

If someone may be in immediate danger, contact emergency services or an appropriate crisis resource rather than relying on a SoundSend report.

10. Impersonation, deception, and synthetic media

Do not:

  • impersonate another person, organization, public figure, or SoundSend staff member;
  • falsely claim verification, sponsorship, endorsement, authorship, or affiliation;
  • use a cloned or synthetic voice to deceive people about who spoke;
  • publish manipulated audio as authentic when that misrepresentation could cause harm;
  • create fake emergency, financial, political, legal, or reputational statements attributed to a real person;
  • use misleading titles, artwork, or metadata to conceal the source of content; or
  • operate coordinated fake accounts or engagement manipulation.

Parody, satire, fan accounts, voice impressions, and clearly fictional content may be allowed when a reasonable user is unlikely to mistake them for authentic statements or official accounts. Labels do not excuse fraud, harassment, infringement, or harmful deception.

11. Fraud, spam, and manipulation

Do not use SoundSend for:

  • scams, phishing, credential theft, or financial fraud;
  • malware, malicious links, or code intended to compromise a device or account;
  • unsolicited bulk promotion or repetitive spam;
  • fake giveaways, deceptive offers, or impersonated customer support;
  • artificial play, save, popularity, or ranking manipulation;
  • automated mass account creation or publication;
  • coordinated reporting abuse;
  • buying, selling, or transferring accounts or usernames; or
  • misleading metadata designed to evade moderation or misdirect users.

12. Illegal activity and regulated goods

Do not use public content or profiles to facilitate:

  • trafficking or exploitation;
  • unlawful sale of drugs, weapons, stolen goods, counterfeit goods, or other prohibited items;
  • instructions intended to enable serious criminal wrongdoing;
  • money laundering, fraud, or evasion of lawful sanctions; or
  • another illegal transaction or service.

Discussion, news, education, harm-reduction, fiction, or advocacy about a regulated topic may be allowed when it does not facilitate illegal conduct.

13. Profanity, satire, politics, and mature themes

Ordinary profanity is not automatically prohibited. It becomes a violation when used for targeted harassment, hate, threats, sexual exploitation, or other prohibited conduct.

Political speech, criticism, satire, parody, and commentary are generally permitted. They must still comply with rules against impersonation, harmful synthetic media, threats, harassment, doxxing, hate, fraud, and infringement.

Mature themes may be restricted or removed when they are graphic, sexually explicit, exploitative, or unsuitable for a general 13+ community. SoundSend does not promise an adult-content category or age-gated distribution.

14. Content quality and community integrity

SoundSend may limit or remove content that materially degrades community integrity, including:

  • meaningless or deceptive metadata;
  • mass duplicate uploads;
  • intentionally corrupted or non-audio files;
  • content published only to manipulate search or trending systems;
  • misleading SoundBoard packaging;
  • excessive low-value repetition; or
  • attempts to evade prior removals through minor edits.

Not every low-quality item is a policy violation. SoundSend may reduce discovery or decline to feature content without finding a violation.

15. Reporting

Use the in-app reporting feature when available. Provide enough information for SoundSend to locate and understand the issue.

Do not submit knowingly false, retaliatory, duplicate, or automated reports. Report abuse can itself lead to restrictions.

16. Blocking

Blocking is intended to help users control their experience. Depending on the released feature, blocking may remove or reduce access to a creator’s profile, sounds, SoundBoards, search results, discovery entries, or delivery.

Blocking does not guarantee that you will never encounter a copy of the same content, a new account, an Apple Messages attachment, or material outside SoundSend.

Do not evade another user’s block through alternate accounts or coordinated contact.

17. Enforcement

SoundSend may use reports, human review, technical signals, rights-holder information, and other reasonably available evidence.

Possible actions include:

  • publication delay or rejection;
  • warning or education;
  • labeling or context;
  • reduced discovery;
  • hiding or removing content;
  • revoking a private share;
  • limiting uploads, saves, or publishing;
  • removing verification or featured status;
  • disabling a profile;
  • temporary suspension; and
  • permanent account termination.

Enforcement decisions may consider:

  • severity and immediacy of harm;
  • intent and context;
  • whether the conduct is repeated;
  • the user’s history;
  • the reliability of evidence;
  • the rights and safety of affected people;
  • legal obligations; and
  • the limitations of a public beta.

SoundSend may preserve content or records that are no longer publicly available for moderation, copyright, safety, audit, or legal purposes.

18. Notice and appeals

Where practical or required by law, SoundSend will provide notice and a general reason for an enforcement decision.

You may appeal through an available in-app option or email [email protected]. Include:

  • your username or account identifier;
  • the content or decision involved;
  • why you believe the decision was incorrect;
  • rights or context SoundSend may have missed; and
  • any supporting information.

An appeal does not guarantee restoration. SoundSend does not promise a fixed response time or outcome unless required by law.

Submitting false documents, threatening reviewers, creating replacement accounts, or republishing removed content during an appeal may result in additional action.

19. Policy changes

SoundSend may update these Guidelines as the public beta, risks, laws, and moderation systems evolve. The current version will identify its effective date.
